Do you ever wish it was that easy? Smile, toss a match and burn that bridge. Sadly, it never is. Even when you make the hard choices to redefine boundaries; there is the harder process of coming to peace within yourself. People believe they can just walk away from something or someone. It’s really a fallacy. We take with us all of our past into our future. It is what makes us who we are. Memories will surface with a mixture of smiles and tears, time will take away the edge of the pain, and we find our way to acceptance. The hardest thing about burning bridges is — you leave yourself isolated on the other side of the bridge. The saving grace about burning bridges is — they can always be rebuilt.

Today I am thankful for ..

  • There is nothing I have to do
  • A delightful breeze coming through my window
  • The lilac bushes under my window are blooming and smell divine

“Let gratitude be the pillow upon which you kneel to say your nightly prayer. And let faith be the bridge you build to overcome evil and welcome good.”  ~ Maya Angelou, Celebrations: Rituals of Peace and Prayer~

affectionately yours, Laura

  1. Some might…but I chose to believe that I’ve taken the lessons of my past into my future so I am not destined to repeat them.
